It is hard to believe that summer activities are already winding down, and we are soon heading into a new fiscal year. Like most of the Army, PEO EIS has had a busy season of transitions, with 10 official charter ceremonies and several senior leader announcements at the headquarters, as I mentioned last month.

I am confident that we are well positioned to tackle some of the exciting challenges ahead supporting the Army digital transformation strategy and the Unified Network plan, fielding prototypes and expanding and next-generation capabilities to Soldiers.

RECENT NEWS & EVENTS

Army Vantage Users Summit
On June 21 and 22, Army Data Platform – newly stood up in May and incorporating our Army Vantage and AESIP Hub programs – hosted a two-day user summit for Army Vantage customers showcasing user programming. Workflow demonstrations spanned Army domains and explored the platform's capabilities, with a program that included a panel discussion; readiness, finance and logistics demonstrations; data and dashboards; and an Army Vantage 101 for new users. The event drew more than 1,330 attendees – an increase from the Army Vantage Demo Day held last year.

Army Data Platform products provide visualization of near real-time data to improve readiness and support informed decision-making, reducing risks and increasing Soldier readiness and wellness.

Federal Computer Week (FCW) Interview
Last month I had the opportunity to sit down with FCW senior editor Lauren C. Williams for a one-on-one webcast interview — a continuation of the discussion we began back in September 2020. The webcast, which will stream in early August on FCW, Defense One and NextGov, covers updates from the last two years, with a focus on our modernization priorities and initiatives. Stay tuned to our website and social media pages for a link to the webcast when it publishes.

UPCOMING EVENT OF NOTE

TechNet Augusta
We have solidified plans for our participation at TechNet Augusta Conference and Expo from August 15-18.

On the morning of August 16, I will provide a keynote address. Afterwards, PEO EIS leaders will participate in the PM Panel featuring three panelists from our networks side of the house: Integrated Enterprise Networks (IEN) Project Manager Col. Jay Shell; Enterprise Services Acting Project Director Sergio Alvarez; and Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) Project Manager Col. Mark Taylor. I will also participate in a PEO Panel in the afternoon.

TechNet is a great opportunity to meet with us and share capabilities.

Here’s a snapshot of PEO EIS leaders attending AFCEA TechNet Augusta (in alphabetical order):

Additionally, CHESS customers can meet with the CHESS team at Booth L6 during exhibit hours.

We look forward to seeing many of you there!

GCSS-Army Assumption of Charter

Congratulations go to Erik Scott, former deputy product manager, who assumes the charter for Global Combat Support Systems – Army (GCSS-Army) in a ceremony at Fort Lee this month. GCSS-Army, a single, web-based system that consolidates and replaces several older, standalone information management systems for logistics, provides critical functional services to the business enterprise and warfighting mission areas.

Last year, the Army estimated that GCSS-Army will save $12 billion through fiscal year 2027 and improve logistics management. I am confident that Erik will continue with this important mission supporting Army modernization priorities.

Enterprise Business System-Convergence (EBS-C) Industry Day

As a follow-up to the Draft Prototype Project Opportunity Notice (PPON) and Request for Information (RFI) I announced in PEO Perspective last month, PEO EIS, the EBS-C Product Management Office (PMO EBS-C) and the EBS Multi-Functional Capabilities Team (EBS-MFCT) will hold a virtual Industry Day on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2022, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. via Microsoft Teams and YouTube Live.

Interested industry and government attendees are encouraged to review the draft PPON/RFI and attachments published on SAM.gov with the Notice ID W52P1J-22-R-EBS in preparation for Industry Day. Please review the details and register for the event.

This virtual event is open to the public.  Interested vendors, government personnel and support contractors are welcome to attend to learn more about the PPON.

Enjoy the rest of your summer!
