PEO EIS held a renaming ceremony on March 16 for its Defense Communications and Army Transmission Systems (DCATS) project management office, which now is officially known as Project Manager Integrated Enterprise Network (PM IEN).

The newly rebranded office’s mission is to enable information dominance from the tactical edge to the home station for the Army, Department of Defense and international partners by acquiring, implementing and sustaining strategic satellite and terrestrial communication systems, and by leveraging technologies to meet current and future requirements. IEN is comprised of four product offices: Global Enterprise Network Modernization - Americas (GENM-A), the newly rebranded Global Enterprise Network Modernization - OCONUS (GENM-O), Land Mobile Radio (LMR) and Wideband Enterprise Satellite Systems (WESS).

During the renaming ceremony, EIS Program Executive Officer Ross Guckert recognized the past and present leaders and workforce of the DCATS office for their dedication and hard work in carrying out its mission. He also highlighted recent accomplishments of DCATS’ four product offices, including GENM-O’s expedited and successful completion of a critical infrastructure project in Poland.

“You have my full trust and confidence as IEN embarks on the next chapter,” said Guckert.

Following Guckert’s speech, he and IEN Project Manager Col. Justin “Jay” Shell officially retired the DCATS name and introduced the new IEN logo. Shell spoke to how the organization has adjusted to Army priorities over the years and said the renaming was “yet another one of those momentous occasions.” The new IEN moniker is designed to better reflect “where we need to go and what we will do for the Army in the future,” said Shell.

The Army has charged IEN with wide-ranging modernization tasks that are essential to establishing the Army’s unified network. Shell said the office will help achieve multi-domain operations by the end of the decade through the combined efforts of its product offices. The renaming is one example of IEN’s dedication and efforts to unify the Army’s networks and carry out the office’s updated mission.

“We are an exceptional team that will continue to deliver exceptional capability … that’s what the Army expects of us. PM IEN reporting for duty,” said Shell.
