The Commander’s Risk Reduction Toolkit (CRRT), a web-based system within PEO EIS’s Army Vantage platform, has completed its rollout to the Army National Guard (ARNG) and Army Reserve, enabling command teams across all Army components to readily access and analyze aggregated risk data on Soldiers to help mitigate and avoid Soldiers’ risk behaviors.
The common access card-enabled system, which assimilates data from 27 sources and displays up to 40 risk factors at a time, was fully fielded to active-duty units in late 2020 to help leaders obtain comprehensive snapshots of Soldiers and make better informed decisions that reduce risk behaviors and ensure unit readiness.
Over the past few months, the Army Resiliency Directorate (ARD), an office of the Army G-1, helped the Army Vantage team roll out the system to the U.S. Army Reserve Command, which has approximately 1,029 active accounts. In partnership with G-1/ARD, Army Vantage provides live webinar-based trainings to command teams within all components on a biweekly basis. ARD is also currently working with the ARNG risk-reduction program coordinators to assist them with their Army Vantage rollout plan, which will add approximately 100 more active accounts.
Feedback on CRRT to date has been overwhelmingly positive, with command teams saving vast amounts of time in accessing data from one centralized source and viewing reports in real time.
To cite one success story, an Army Forces Command field grade officer responsible for building reports for the unit’s senior commander said he now only needs to visit one platform to build a custom report displaying aggregated risk data for the entire command. Printing out or mailing reports to his superior takes only minutes; previously, within the old legacy system, it took hours or even days for the reports to be built and verified.
“The CRRT is exactly what the Army has needed to help company and battalion command teams visualize the critical risk factors that can help them develop proactive intervention and risk-reduction strategies,” said Randy Lane, director of assessments, Army Resiliency Directorate. “This same system also enables leaders at the brigade level and above to see trends and patterns across their formations to better inform decisions, risk management and the allocation of key resources.”
Army Vantage is a comprehensive data-management platform designed to integrate data from new and legacy systems in any form and at any scale. The program enables the Army to “see itself” by providing senior leaders, Soldiers, staff and analytic communities with a common, integrated data platform to visualize and analyze the current and predicted future state(s) of the Army.
