    Reg Shuford, product director of the General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS), leads a team of 350 people who develop and modernizes the Army’s cloud-based financial-management system. A hands-on leader with more than 15 years of Army software-acquisition experience, Shuford has managed all aspects of the program-management lifecycle. Widely considered an expert in developing enterprise-resource-planning systems for the Army, he has encountered and resolved the vast majority of problems associated with the development and fielding of software products. A North Carolina native and barbecue fan, Shuford answered questions about his career and life.

    The Army is putting a priority on data, and PEO EIS is doing its part by educating its workforce about data science. At a Jan. 28 Lunch & Learn hosted by Applied Cyber Technologies (ACT) — part of PEO EIS’s Defensive Cyber Operations portfolio — ACT data scientist Mark Orwat, who has a doctorate in computer science, presented “Data Science 101” for members of the workforce.

  4. Col. Don Burton focuses on continuous improvement

    Col. Don Burton, project manager for Defense Integrated Business Systems (DIBS), leads a team of 345 people who develop and sustain Army enterprise-wide financial business systems. Last year, his team migrated the Army’s General Fund Enterprise Business System to the cloud. The transition was completed seven months ahead of schedule with the support of several industry and government partners. “It was a herculean task and a great team effort,” Burton said. “Everyone put both oars in the water and rowed together.” Burton answered questions about his values, life and career.

  6. GCSS-Army receives green light for deployment of Army Prepositioned Stock capability

    On Jan. 13, PEO EIS’s Global Combat Support System – Army (GCSS-Army) program received official authority to proceed with releasing its next round of capabilities to approximately 1,000 users to better manage Army Prepositioned Stock (APS). GCSS-Army provides functional services to the business enterprise and warfighting mission areas focused on property book, supply operations, tactical maintenance, logistics management and associated tactical finance functionality, serving as the tactical financial system of record for the Army.
