GFEBS Dedication Ceremony at Polk Building
In a continued effort to pay homage to Veteran's Day, General Fund Enterprise Business System held a dedication ceremony naming the organization's conference rooms on November 10. All of the conference rooms were named after Soldiers that have fallen during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
"This has just been a banner week for us," remarked COL Matt Russell, GFEBS project manager. "It is so humbling, knowing what these men sacrificed, and to be able to make this small dedication to them during the week of Veteran's Day has been incredible." In addition to the dedication of the conference rooms, COL Russell and members of the GFEBS team participated in a wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier November 9.
The conference rooms were dedicated to Specialist Salvator Guinta, the first living Medal of Honor Recipient since the Vietnam War; Private First Class Ross McGinnis, the youngest Army recipient of the Medal of Honor for Operation Iraqi Freedom; and Staff Sergeant Jerad Monti, was the first Army Medal of Honor for Operation Enduring Freedom.
The final conference room honors MG Harold Green.
"Although Major General Green was not a Medal of Honor recipient, he was family," Russell noted.
Greene was killed in Afghanistan while serving as Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan. Before taking command he worked within the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics and Technology) community.
"Many of us in this room knew MG Greene first hand and worked with him on some level," Russell reflected. "I cannot think of a more befitting name for this conference room, and hopefully we will remember his wisdom whenever we use it."
