Lt. Col. Laura-Jane (LJ) Freeland assumed the role of product manager of PEO EIS’ Army Data Platform product office in May 2022. In that role, she is responsible for the cost, schedule and performance of the ADP, which will collect, catalogue, integrate, analyze and visualize data from disparate source systems to support fact-based and resource-informed decision-making across all echelons of the Army and for all its multi-domain operations.

Freeland began her acquisition career as an assistant product manager for Project Management Office DOD Biometrics while aligned under EIS. She then went to the Acquisition, Logistics and Technology – Integration Office at the Combined Arms Support Command in Fort Lee, Virginia. There, she served as a requirements developer focused on operational contract support and directly supported two iterations of the Operational Contract Support Exercise.

Freeland served on the Assistant Secretary of the Army, Acquisition, Logistics and Technology staff, completing assignments as a Department of the Army systems coordinator and as the executive officer to the deputy for acquisition systems management. Most recently, she served as a proponent officer at the U.S. Army Acquisition Support Center at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, supporting multiple talent management initiatives, including the Technical Expert Program, and serving as the primary acquisition liaison to the U.S. Army Talent Management Task Force. Freeland completed a Training with Industry Fellowship at Dcode, based in Washington, D.C., in spring 2022.

Freeland graduated from the U.S. Military Academy and was commissioned as a quartermaster officer in May 2004. Her first duty assignment was with the 159th Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), where she served as a battalion assistant S4 and platoon leader deploying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, as well as serving as the forward support command executive officer and 7th Battalion S1.

She also served as commander, Forward Support Company, 4th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, 159th Combat Aviation Brigade, deploying in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Following command, she went to the Human Resources Command at Fort Knox, Kentucky to serve as a future readiness officer in the Force Sustainment Division.

Freeland completed the resident Command and General Staff Officers Course with a Master of Military Art and Science in military history. Additionally, she earned her Master of Business Administration from Norwich University. Her awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with silver oak leaf cluster, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Meritorious Unit Citation and the Army Superior Unit Award. She is authorized to wear the Army Staff Identification Badge and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Bronze). In 2019, she was awarded the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara.
