On August 5, senior leaders and staff of Project Director, Enterprise Services (PD ES) gathered at the Fort Belvoir Golf Club to bid farewell to Project Director Jeremy Hiers. After three years establishing and leading PD ES, Mr. Hiers stepped down on August 7.

As Project Director, Mr. Hiers commanded a project office responsible for acquiring, fielding, and performing lifecycle sustainment of technology and services supporting many of the Army Chief Information Officer’s largest enterprise initiatives. He provided leadership to a staff of over 300 government and contractor personnel across three product director offices.

“He [Mr. Hiers] certainly did a swell job, but he started with nothing”, said Mr. Reginald Bagby, portfolio manager for Enterprise Management Systems. “When you have requirements that are twice your funding, that’s hard and Jeremy [handled] that in fine fashion.”

During his tenure, PD ES successfully implemented Department of Defense Enterprise Email, carried out key components of the Army Data Center Consolidation Plan, and made significant strides toward unified capabilities, an Army cloud service, and software marketplace.

“Jeremy was the first person I got to know personally”, said Wayne Sok, executive officer for the Program Executive Officer, Enterprise Information Systems. “What this team is doing is very important to [PEO EIS] leadership. It’s at the top of the list.”

Established in September 2012, PD ES delivers secure, modern, agile, effective and efficient information technology enterprise services that enable end-to-end communication, collaboration, messaging, content management, and application hosting across the Army.

“Managers want to be heroes, but leaders create heroes. That’s what he did at PD ES”, said Mr. Bagby.
